It’s easy to forget that those less fortunate than ourselves
I contacted ISGF (International Support Group Foundation) to discuss with them about providing free dance classes for disadvantaged children. They had absolutely no reservations in helping me realise my ideas. Through the links ISGF has with Government welfare homes in and around Bangkok they were able to put me in contact with 4 homes:
- Baan Feung Fa, for physically and mentally disabled children age 7 and under.
- Baan Nonthaphum, for physically and physically and mentally disabled children age children age 16-18.
- Baan Rachawadeeying, for mentally disabled grown up girls
- Baan Kredtakarn, a centre who provides shelter for trafficking victims, girls engaged in prostitution and women suffering from social problems such as abuse.
The children reacted pretty well – at least I got some laughter out of them! This volunteering work is really important to me and I hope I will have the opportunity to keep doing it. In the meantime if you’ve got a skill that you think ISGF can help you put to good use please don’t hesitate in contacting them.
Volunteering activities will resume this summer at Baan Kredtakarn.
