History
Jazz Dance, a common form of dance used in musical theater and commercial and entertainment industries, has its roots in social dance and is heavily influenced by African-American traditions. It grew up alongside the American jazz music tradition. Later, it became entwined with tap, swing, and Broadway. As a result, the movements and styles associated with jazz dancing have been constantly changing over the decades. Nowadays it is more danced to hip-hop and other wild types of music.
